How To Install NetBeans On Ubuntu

To Install NetBeans On Ubuntu 16.04 / 17.10 / 18.04 With Oracle JDK 8 is not a big deal. Since NetBeans is based on Java and requires Java in order to function, you must first install Java JDK 8 on Ubuntu. Please follow the step by step

Step 1: Install Oracle Java JDK 8

Run the below command step by step

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt update
sudo apt install oracle-java8-installer

After run the above commands you’ll be prompted to access the license terms of the software, please accept and continue..

Run the below command to set JDK

sudo apt install oracle-java8-set-default

You can check the installed java version through run the below command on ubuntu terminal

javac -version

Step 2: Downloading NetBeans

cd /tmp && wget -c http://download.netbeans.org/netbeans/8.2/final/bundles/netbeans-8.2-linux.sh

Step 3: Install NetBeans

chmod +x netbeans-8.2-linux.sh 
sudo ./netbeans-8.2-linux.sh

Click on the next button to continue

Set the directory as per above and click on the next button to continue.

Continue and click Install to finish the installation. After successfully installation you can customize the theme through plugins option which is available in tools.
